In this review of the 2026 Ford Bronco Sport updates for the latest model year of the Sport, we'll be going in depth on all the latest and greatest expected updates for the new year.
The 2026 Ford Bronco Sport arrives with meaningful updates that enhance its styling, technology, and off-road capability. For 2026, the compact SUV features refreshed front and rear fascias, a redesigned grille, and new appearance options such as the Bronze Package, which adds distinctive bronze wheels and exterior accents.
Inside, every Bronco Sport now comes standard with a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+, delivering a more modern and connected driving experience. The Free Wheeling trim has been discontinued, streamlining the lineup while focusing on refinement and versatility.
Capability is also improved for 2026 with standard All-Wheel Drive across all trims, now using an upgraded twin-clutch rear drive unit for better traction and control in low-grip conditions, along with enhanced off-road features like Trail Control.
The Bronco Sport lineup continues with Big Bend, Outer Banks, Heritage, and Badlands trims, powered by familiar EcoBoost engines: a 180-horsepower 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder on lower trims and a 250-horsepower 2.0L EcoBoost exclusive to the Badlands, both paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Order banks are expected to open around October 2025.
For the 2026 Ford Bronco, the trim lineup remains largely intact but receives a handful of meaningful refinements. All seven trims return--Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, Heritage, Stroppe Edition, and Raptor--with subtle updates to availability and configuration.
One of the biggest changes is the Stroppe Edition, which is now offered exclusively as a four-door model, whereas the 2025 version was limited to two doors. The Heritage Edition also gains added flexibility, as buyers can now choose between the traditional seven-speed manual and an available 10-speed automatic transmission when paired with the 2.3L EcoBoost engine.
Off-road capability sees thoughtful enhancements as well, particularly on the Badlands trim, which can now be equipped with a front stabilizer bar disconnect even without selecting the Sasquatch Package, improving trail articulation while preserving configuration flexibility.
Interior changes are minimal overall, but the Outer Banks trim now offers available leather upholstery when equipped with a specific package, adding a more upscale option to the lineup. Across the range, interior comfort continues to scale appropriately--from durable, easy-to-clean cloth seating on the Base trim to premium 10-way heated seats on the Bronco Raptor--ensuring the 2026 Bronco remains well-suited for both daily driving and serious off-road adventures.
The Bronco Sport is set to shake up the SUV market with its consistent blend of practicality and affordability making it a popular option when contrasted with many other SUVs in the class. While they may outperform the Bronco Sport on tangibles like horsepower, the Bronco Sport manages to perform well in a wider range of areas with a price tag low enough to mean it's a reasonable purchase for just about anyone.
