The F-150 last had a big overhaul in 2021 and a refresh in 2024, so Ford keeps things mostly unchanged this time around. However, earlier in 2025, a camouflaged F-150 Lightning was spotted towing in Arizona. Ford painted this prototype Marsh Gray, and it wore 18-inch STX-style wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler all-terrains. Some earlier test versions showed Tremor-style running boards and even a blue grille accent.
Put it all together, and it looks like Ford may be preparing an off-road-inspired package—or maybe even a Lightning Tremor trim—for the electric model. With the next-gen Lightning delayed until 2028, smaller updates like these are likely what we’ll see in the meantime.
